You won't find me on LinkedIn

It is very likely that if you are viewing this page you work in an HR position for a company that in during the selection process has requested a link to my LinkedIn profile. I'm sorry, but you may not like knowing that I don't have one, and you may even dismiss my candidature for this reason alone.

However, if you are interested in knowing my reasons for making this choice, in these paragraphs, I will explain why I believe LinkedIn is a horrible platform that both industry and society in general should firmly reject. Moreover, at the bottom of this page, you will find several links to further readings in case you want to delve deeper into this topic.

Don't relinquish control over your professional life

This applies to LinkedIn and any other centralized employment platform. Do we really need an external actor to control our professional connections and those of the entire planet? At least in today's modern times, it looks like we cannot establish direct relationships between jobseekers and employers effectively without them.

This doesn't make any sense if you think about it, humanity has always functioned without these massive centralized silos of workers and unemployment rates were far lower. Nowadays, we've drastically lost the ability to find/offer jobs without digital platforms. Sad.

It's just a social network, not a professional one
